    Repair vs Replace

Yeah --- as if fixing any damage is isn't nerve-wracking enough . . . never mind stressing about how to repair

I can't speak about the kind of work your car might need. But I have gone through this situation myself --- and more than once . . . a lot of us have. So I'll just talk about how I approach a repair . . . any repair

And --- just so you know . . . I'm at the very far end of any spectrum on this subject

As far as I can tell, my car has had at least one (more probably two) really serious shunts --- serious enough to require replacing the front bumper and one quarter, and some over-the-top attention to another. And altogether, there are 6 replacement panels on the car . . . but only 2 that aren't OE Porsche

Short Version. Originality' left the room about 4 decades ago --- and not all my doing

So having said that, my car is no museum piece . . . and every scratch and bump and scar she carries speaks to that. But beyond her cosmetics? . . . I genuinely esteem all the attention and care --- and craftsmanship . . . of all the people who've worked on her

I can always replace something old with something new . . .

    . . . but --- if I can find someone who can repair the old thing I bring them? . . .

    . . . then I'll go with them

    I mean, I can just hear somebody say --- a hundred years from now . . .

'Hey! --- take a look at this? . . . instead of tossing the old panel . . . some idiot actually went to the trouble to fabricate a properly repaired one! . . . What-the---'

    Uh-huh ---- I'm that idiot

Thank you all for you input. A this time, it is absolutely overwhelming to think of all the alternatives, I will have a competent shop as in CRP.
Looking closely at the damage, it does not seem to have lots of bonds but cracked primer and paint peeled off. At any rate, I really appreciate you guidance and will report back on the progress.
I am at the present waiting the fight with the insurance company. Yikes. Lawyers? Maybe !!!!
