Fender Extensions Prototypes

These photos of prototype fender extensions sold on the auction site Ni-Cola back in 2019. Does anyone know more about them?

i used to work in a (automotiv)design agency for 10 years as a clay and hard modeller

this car looks pretty much like a car(in the making) for a design presentation.

obvously it did not convince(i wonder how both design proposals made it through the clay phase)---lucky us

thanks for sharing! I had seen one of these photos or two, but not the whole development!
What was this vehicle made for? Were they going to try to market a similar vehicle to the "people" (without installing kits) or was it one of the "evolution/prototype" offshoots of a "other model" newer than a 72 that didn't see the light of day?
I mean, did they try to develop a vehicle that was already built in that shape or were they testing an M?

Not even one complete concept because the flares are different one side to the other. I see gas burners in the background. Could be as late as 73. Timing is weird because I’d have thought that RSR designs would have been decided by then. Looking at the size of the Fuchs, this could be RSR body studies.

My first thought was that it was an RSR styling study as well. It looks to have been a mock up moved into the parking lot for pictures in daylight. The passenger side reminds me of the flares that Porsche used to convert the 924 to a 944. The driver side study is a little odd, but probably looked better on paper.

mine as well, but with the advent of rapid prototyping the job profile changed a lot(especially in hard modelling) so i moved on...but still a cool trade

question... would this car have a VIN? I'm assuming the owner is Porsche itself but would I count this as an "asset"? Or since it is something "that is not even a prototype" it lacks a VIN, documentation, "inventory" number, etc.?
