So cool! Better than the Sebring 12hrs of last weekend
Did they run 16'' wheels those days?

I will search for information about the only racing 928 S4 SE, raced by Tony Dron.

The 928 was very quick, Tony was always at the front.

Tony Dron was a quick wheelman bit to tall for single seaters that he aspired to race so turned to other motoring things to get drives.

Some of us grew up avidly reading him — he was road test and then Sport editor for “Motor” magazine from around the beginning of seventies and became editor of Thoroughbred and Classic Cars / Classic Cars. Unlike some journalists who made an automotive journalistic career clowning around on TV Dron actually could drive well. He drove many things in those roles and at times drive Porsche He drove at Le Mans four times, finishing including a works 924 Carrera GT and Porsche 934 ans Kremer CK5 in 80s. Also drove 924 supported by Gordon Ramsay (not the sweary chef) who had a Porsche dealership in my home town. I think the 928CS he is seen racing in the video clips had the support of British sole concessionaire Porsche Cars Great Britain /AFN which might explain its inclusion in a field where drivers mainly opted for other tool to do the job.

Sadly Dron died recently but was often seen participating at historic events until he became too ill

When I bought my car off of Trevor Messett back in 1997 he told me it had been raced in the past and I can now see reference to it in the documents from 1987 and 1988 but not 1989 which would match the last tax disc displayed on the car.

It would be amazing if anyone had any photos - 1970 Albert Blue 911E registration COO307X driven by Rodney Lewis. In 1987 was number 205 in class C and in 1988 was number 318 in class D.

Funny reading so much about David Lees too as he lived round the corner from me in the early 80's and we used to see a variety of early 911s in his front garden.

My RS prior owner was Valentine Lindsay - he raced, and as can be seen spun, in the series for a couple of years in a replica of his then RS. Pretty sure my engine was transplanted for a season or two as it was quite tired when I bought the RS in 92...

2016 Cayenne Diesel - Tow Car

    2008 Carrera S F77 SOLD
2011 Cayenne S TOTALLED (T-Boned but kept us safe)
    2015 Macan S SOLD

Sad to learn that he died recently
I enjoyed the reading of his book: Porsche, engineering for excellence.

The 928 SE (the closest that you could get from a RHD 928 CS), was supported by AFN indeed, as was the 944 Turbo S raced by Tiff Needel.
