Does someone has a 69-71 S oil filter console on shelf for information to help ?

    Hello,

I'm rebuilding an oil filter console for my 70S and I'm not sure about the parts getting in.

I'm not sure I have the right parts to go in ; The spring seem long and the piston is too tight in the tube.

Can someone tell me the length of the spring (part #3) and the diameter/length of the piston (part #2) ?

    Thank you very much !!

    Hello,

I have a 70s Coupe as well, and I can shed some light on this subject.
The spring is indeed long, and the piston slides tight on the walls of the filter console.
Let me take some measures and later today, I can provide you with those details.
    Best,
    Dennes

    Hi JD,

As you requested help, here are some photos with the measurements that you need.

If you notice there are 4 perforations on the piston, you will have to align it with the console body, as I explain in the last photo.

The spring is roughly 7,15 cm in length.

The piston was really hard to take it out, but as you can see, it measures 2.2 cm in length.

    And 1.5 cm in diameter.

As you can see, I shed some light under, and in the position that I took the photo, you can see two holes on top and bottom, and a larger one on the left side (the exit for number 7 of your photo)
The bottom is just the body, but the top leads to the piston, so the hole has to be aligned with it.

I hope it provided some clarity.
If you need any more measures, let me know.
Do not forget to use aluminum gaskets on the covers, in order to allow for material expansion.

If I’m not mistaken the spring is a standard early pressure relief spring, same with the piston which doesn’t have to be aligned.

    Thank you for your input.
I learned a new thing today, I guess the piston will eventually move inside with the heat and oil passing.
