Do phenolic spacers really help with vapor lock for cars running webers?

Hi folks - hope everyone had a good weekend.

The 1973 911T running a 2.4L with Webers developed a hard to start issue this weekend while doing a friends/family run to Palm Springs and back.

It wasn't that warm this weekend but after a couple hours of driving and lunch in Julian the car refused to start. We eventually got it going by using starter spray and then it was fine but it was a bummer to nearly lose use of the car.

The car runs great otherwise, cold starts not an issue. Fuel pump is up front. Electronic ignition.

Assuming this is engine heat related do the phenolic spacers actually help? No spacers on car now, just normal gaskets.

    Any other ideas to share?

    Thanks!

Next time you do this put your hands on the carbs,,,hot aren't they. Put on spacers and repeat test, there will be a difference. Yes, they help. that was a dealer upgrade repair at the time.

Thank you for the fast and helpful replies, so I will track these down and get them installed.

Skeptical that the studs are long enough, so wondering if I’m going to have to pull in and replace those with longer ones?
