Would be interesting to hear from any other 72T owners. In 68/69 the same thing happened, some hard the hard line hoop and some the soft line over the top.

I think Beach33 may have thought the TCH fittings were out of the ordinary. Many are accustomed to seeing crimped lines these days, in reality all of the cars from mid 68 - 72 came with TCH aluminum serviceable fittings. Most cars no longer have their original TCH and replacement crimped lines are used. IMHO original lines add a huge plus to the look and soul of the car.
It could be a T thing. My hose fittings even had matching 71 date codes on them (part of the reason I had you rebuild my line). Other than a bad paintjob, my car was very original - date codes on parts when I disassembled for restoration were all appropriate. My car also had the '71 rear fuse cover and '71 style door catch pins. This hose was most certainly the original hose to my car.

We know Porsche used up parts - it is likely the earliest cars used up some of the '71 stock. I see the thread starter has VIN 163, mine is 228. Curious if we could identify the transition to the metal line with VIN sequencing?

My 7/71 911T US has a solid oil line.
Your hose shows SAE. Never seen a SAE marked hose by factory.

I wish I had better pics of my fittings, but if you zoom in on this photo you can see the 71 date codes.

    Hi Rich
Using the IPM I surmised that the correct hose was the one that had the hard line running under the transmission with the crimped section of flexible hose. Seeing that mine has fittings that allowed for a full flexible hose that would support connection to the "new oil tank location" introduced in '72 led me to think prototype parts might be used. In my years of product design, we often used alternate means until suppliers were able to provide approved final sub-assemblies.

My leaky original flexible section was replaced with the SAE Aeroquip 1503-16 line by me. The Aeroquip line was the best substitution that I could find using printed catalogs in 1995. I am sure many of the early 72's have had their hoses replaced with the assembly listed in the IPM - I was tempted but elected to keep the original style. Now I need to find the original hose and remove the SAE line.

    Hi Bill,
Mine has two of the 90 degree fittings shown in your picture. Is there any source for replacements?

Brad Davis (he has commented in this thread) is in my opinion the expert on oil lines. Maybe he will chime in.
