    Matt Cooley matte blue swb

    Hi Guys,

    glad to be back!
After selling the jlp rsr I have been craving for a replacement.
Looked at a lot of 911's & 912's but no "coup de coeur" until I found something special, I had it for a very long time as a screensaver, it is a car I often look back to and a build tread I often reread. It was super cool more than 10 years ago and it still is super cool now. I just didn't know I was looking at this exact car: the matte bleu '68 of Matt Cooley.
It is a '68 911L and if I am correct the US L is like a S but with another engine?
It is now slate grey, and still a very beautiful car, but the moment I knew it was Matt's former car I bought it, and I am thinking to bring it back to it's matte paint/color. It is in transport now and I hope to have it before the weekend.
All info on the car is welcome.
Somebody knows Matt in person? Can't find recent activity on the forum.

    Best,

    Nico

Nico. I will be really interested to see what you do here. I just recently purchased a 68L roller and sent it to Erik Lind at Sports Purpose Garage to fully redo it into an R inspired hot rod similar to Matt's car and Erik's TW. Can't wait to see what you do with your 68, would love to see photos of the build and rework. Best of luck!

Matt is local to me and I actually bought some of the original L interior from him when he was working on that car. It was originally Burgandy and the interior was cherry!

He’s still active on Pelican though I haven’t spoken to him in years.

I love the Terracotta Warrior! And the driving videos of its owner are fantastic. Seems quite the engine and suspension on that car. Best of luck to you too and keep us updated on the build please

Thanks, I'll try to contact him through pelican. The car must have been in a very good shape when he started the project as there are no signs of rust or repairs?

Yes it was! He realized that but, you know,,,, the vision! He was in the process of tearing it down when I bought some of the parts. I was stupid for not buying the door panels when I bought the door tops and rear quarter trim....

He hasn't posted on Pelican for over a year but, he was last logged in a couple of days ago. His Pelican ID is cool5. You should send him a PM through Pelican. I could drop by his place but, that would be a bit weird not having talked to him in several years.

He had a nice Ivory longhood before the '68 IIRC.
