    Thermo Time Switch

    Hi,

I am trying to check my Time Switch for my 1971 S.

I have a VDO 91161711700 45 degrees man. in 8/70. I attached a test light to the larger (Black/Red) and put the other end of the test light to 12V +. Then I attached another wire to the smaller connection (Yellow) and also to 12V +. When I grounded the Time Switch unit the light came on for less than 1 second and then went out. Is this ok? Other write ups say the light should come on for a few Seconds. Thanks for any help. Simon.

Connect an Ohm meter to the body and the W connector (where the red/blk wire hook up), you should have a closed circuit. Apply a ground wire to the body and 12v to G terminal (where the yellow wire would go to complete the circuit). The yellow wire represents the starter, now see how many seconds it takes for the Ohm meter to go to open circuit. Tools required: Ohm meter with 2 wires. Battery with 2 wires +&—. Give it a try.

That 45* TTS is very common on the 911SC, get a new or used one. 1 sec doesn’t seem like enough.

Triple checked everything. Fuses, Solinoid, fuel to lines in air cleaner, relay, temp switch, etc.
Turned ignition on - Fuel pump on for 5 seconds. Turned key and started on the first turn of the starter motor !! Amazing. Tried it several more times and same - starts right up. Thanks all.
