    What is inside the tubing??

I am cleaning the rubber sleeve above. It “sits” between the rear seats and rear shock absorbers metal, it prevents the dirt from going up further.

It’s kind of empty besides a 5” length, where it’s stuffed. I can not check what its without making a slice in the rubber. Is the sleeve / tube supposed to be empty and did dirt creep in or was there foam that deteriorated?

    I would appreciate your experience.

Franz your experience and knowledge is one of a kind.
I did find remains of foam at the end caps after I removed them.

What years was this seal used? My 70 Targa has it, but not sure it was original.
