    Sticky MFI lever

I’ve noticed that my throttle doesn’t always fully close when I lift slowly off the pedal. After slowly removing each section and rods I am back to the pump lever. When I lift off fully it closes all the way. However, if I do it slowly it doesn’t. It seems to stick a slight bit near the end. When I move the lever on the pump the same thing happens. I’ve sprayed some penetrating oil behind the lever connected to the pump but not much changed. Any ideas besides putting another return spring on the connecting rod?

What happens if you remove the pump control rod from the cross bar? and just operate the pump lever by itself? The cross bar all by itself may not be free enough. Also back out the microswitch adjustment so there is no effect there and see what happens. I see the pump appears to have had a recent rebuild so I would think the rack is not a problem.

I should have been clearer - nothing is connected to the pump at this point. It’s ever so slight - but there is some binding of the lever. Yes, pump rebuilt and tested.

What Ed said. Also check the flapper box plate/roller for smooth closure. They can get gunked up and not fully close if done slowly but will if quick full lift.

From my experience , the pump lever sometimes sticks when the pump is stationary but returns when the pump is turning , so not a good test , problem most likely elsewhere .
