    1969 911 E 123 ignition curve

    Hello,

    I recently installed a 123 ignition/tune + in my 1969 911 E. Based on the following information I wanted to see if anyone could confirm my ignition curve is set properly in my 123 ignition:

    ^ My factory distributor is a 159.006

    ^ 950 rpm = 1 degree and 6000 rpm = 29-31 degrees



    Based on this information I created the following curve:

    I’m new to setting up ignition curves and I would love to know if I have made any mistakes. Car pulls smooth and strong and I’m hearing no noticeable noises or experiencing any hesitation from the motor with this curve.

    I will be most interested as I am also going to install 123 on 2.5 with carbs

    Your software is counting crankshaft RPM and degrees crankshaft, but the distributor is turning at half the speed. So you should double the degrees, and double the RPM from the original diagram, which uses distributor RPM and advance.

    Thank you! I actually just discovered this when going through the 123 documentation. I now have an ignition curve that is 2x the rpm and degree of what is shown on the factory curve.

    Learned something new

    OP how are you liking the 123 dizzy setup? I have 1967 911 with a 2.0 and we recently rebuilt the motor with 2.2 cylinder and heads and bumped the compression up to 9.6:1....also added E cams so now my old stock dizzy has a different timing curve than what the E cams are supposed to have (or so I've concluded from research). So now I'm looking into a new dizzy and the 123 setup seems to be a good choice. Also entertaining the JB dizzy with a Ashlock CDI box...which would be a bit more pricey than the 123 setup.

    Curious to hear your experience with it thus far, thanks

    Once I figured out how to setup the timing (all user error on my part) it works amazingly well. I really can't recommend it enough.

    I also love the immobilizer function on the app. Really gives you some added security.

    Thanks so much for the reply...if you don't mind would you be able to post up the curve you set on the 123? I'm putting in an order for one today and If you're running an E I'd imagine your curve will work for me as well...thanks -Mark

    LOL - same boat for me Paul. I put a 123 in my 2.0 E rebuild (2.3 with DC30 cams and Webers). It "adds" one more tuning complexity because now it's so easy to vary the timing to work with/work against carb tuning.
