Rear Axle bolts & related questions?

    Guys
    For 71 911 rear axles w/4bolts 2 pins ..
    Using new GHK 300739 axles
My original bolts were Repa 10x48 but new bolts by porsche & vendors show 10x55 ?
    Is this correct?

Also assume all original bolts, washers, circlips & 2 bolts gang plate are all to be replaced ?
    Any re-usable parts ?

    Thanks for assistance
    Frank

Bolt plates no. Washers yes. Snap rings only as needed. You need to dry fit, bolt threads shouldn’t protrude past the threads in the drive flange or stub axle.

Frank, the bolt lengths depend on which CV joints and rear axles you have.

The 40 mm CV joints require the M10 x 55 mm bolts.
The 32 mm CV joints use the shorter M10 x 48 mm bolts.

Yes , of course Jon's reply is most helpful . From my experience '71's came with the 40 mm wide CV's , which explains the bolt discrepancy , I think the CV's have been replaced on your car . Order bolts for a '73 .

Perfect information…here is what I measured
My original CV was 40mm the trans flange is 10mm (same for hub flange mount) and the 2bolt plate with Schnoor washer is 3mm so total is 53..original bolts were 48mm so seems 5mm short of full engagement

The new CV is 35mm plus 10mm for flange & 3mm for 2bolt plate with schnoor washer total is 48mm
Seems 48mm would be the correct length correct ?
But did not see that Porsche offers this , it was listed but no price so not available?

    Thanks for assistance
