Seeking input regarding the best alternative for SWB tire replacement

I've done the research here, but I want to make sure I'm getting the most accurate answer for my specific situation. I have great respect for the opinions of the Early S community, so....

My car does not have the original engine, so I am restoring it as a very nice weekend driver.

I am finalizing restoration of 11880001, and I'm trying to be true to the COA, which states "Pirelli tires." Pirelli no longer makes the correct stock size from 1967.

I'm told that the closest size match available here in Indiana is a Nexen 15", which obviously is not Pirelli, but is close to the original dimensions.

I'm also told that Pirelli's closest match is a P4, which is 0.5" smaller diameter, but wider.

    So, my questions are:

How closely should I stick with Pirelli in order to be true to the COA? (This will never be a show car, since the engine isn't correct .)

Would the fatter Pirelli rub on the front or rear fenders? (With or without spacers)

Thank you for constructive thoughts and opinions.

I believe Pirelli does make the correct tire. It was the CA67. Soon followed by the CN36 in 1968. See Pirelli's web site. Longstone Tire has CN36 available and appears to have CA67's coming. Neither probably as good as current tires but question is whether you want correct or performance. You seem to be leaning towards performance.
