Just drove to Buttonwillow then Monterey and back to Oregon. The roads in Cali are awful and in need of serious repair. Gas was $7.20 a gallon and it was shitty gas. Sad.

Interesting, just spent 6 weeks driving in California and Nevada from San Fran to San Diego to Vegas and all the National Park like Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion and Yosemite

We had a great trip, roads are far better than they are in Victoria, Australia but will admit Nevada roads were better condition that California roads, more fun too.

The one thing we noticed is how much more courteous the drivers were than our aggressive monsters here in Melbourne, Aust.

Perhaps the fear of being shot is what does it but we never saw or experienced any aggro at all.

California's multitudinous mountain of regulations seems to be working well so far. Right?

    Cheers,

Your comment made me curious so looked at a comparison table — seems wise to be courteous when driving given the firearm related deaths per 100k population comparison (extracts below)

A rough road even a few potholes is less concerning than fear of being shot — sounds like Australia despite having a lot of wild country and fearsome critters which perhaps gives reason to own gun made some changes: “In Australia, a 1996 massacre prompted mandatory gun buybacks that saw, according to some estimates, as many as one million firearms melted into slag. The rate of mass shootings plummeted from once every 18 months to, so far, only one in the 26 years since”.

Yes our Prime Minister of the day reacted to our worst ever mass shooting…he had some serious balls to introduce the law and it had the desired result.
