    Build Date

    Need some help in determining the build date of 1971 911E. Does anyone have a VIN close to this one with a known build date? VIN is 9111200301.

    Your build date will most likely be late September 1970.

    Mine is 394 and is 11/70
    1968 911L Coupe - Golden Green
    1971 911S Coupe - Gemini Blue
    1973 911S Targa - Signal Yellow
    1974 914 2.3 - Sunflower Yellow

    So E cars were built in the first couple of months of the 1971 production run? This is a USA car.

    If you look at your gauges, the date stamp gives a clue.
    The gauges were probably made a month or two before.
    You might have gauges the have july1970 on them.

    Nothing was built in august (so I hear)

    Well okay. So using the info from Simon and Scott one could make the assumption if #394 is 11/70 and the gauges are 10/70 then its probably a 11/70 build date. Unless someone has other input. Much thanks to everyone for the info.

    9111200312 is 1970 10 and if the gauges are 10/70 that nails it.

    Hold on. Dave's VIN is 312 and 10/70. Since this is only 11 cars later. Instead of 11/70 must be 10/70 build car. Dave that helps alot. Again Thank-you to everyone for the help.
