I’m pretty sure my Dad took us to this race in 1970. If I could only find the 35 mm slide I remember of what must’ve been Alan Johnson’s C Production 914/6…

Boy does this bring back memories. I had the Hindson car after the runoffs and I was just starting my racing career. This picture is IRP in probably 1972. I had to raise the rollbar to make it legal for my height.
There was a white car that Chuck Deitrich raced that Freddie Baker in Medina Ohio had bought and raced. Freddie and I clashed more times than I want to remember. We both started driver schools and regional racing at the same time.
I don't know what happened to my old car, I sold it to someone who was going to put it back on the street, but I heard it was wrapped around a tree. Many years later I was told that someone on the west coast had the car. Don't have a clue where it is now.
Back then no one kept track of things like VIN, what races we ran or even pictures. What we all have learned over the years.

Steves,
I would like to see anything you have on a Freddie Baker owned 914/6 from that period. Thanks.
I may have found a photo of the Gregg 914/6 CP at Rennsport in 2011 unless this is an homage. Anyone have any further insight?

I believe that is Bob Snodgrass' car, not the CP car. It was a regular entrant in HSR events back in the early 2000s. Interesting side note, I believe the current owner, if she still owns it, is the wife of the former lead singer of AC/DC.
I heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who heard it from Jack Atkinson, Gregg's crew chief, that the Brumos guys were not happy because these early CP cars ran very hot when driven in anger and the rules did not permit an additional oil cooler. Obviously, thing changed over years but in 1970 thems were the rules.

What Sanders says is true. The SCCA back in the day had very specific rules and if the street version didn't have an extra oil cooler then the race car couldn't have one either. They wouldn't allow any ducting to a cooler so some people hung a cooler under the roll bar bodywork and tried that. of course for only one weekend until the tech nazis found it.
He is also correct about that being one of the Brumos built cars for HSR and SVRA vintage racing. They probably built 4 or 5 cars for their clients to drive. The "real" CP car only came out on special occasions. I would assume it is on display at The Collection. I have it on my bucket list to get there soon. As far as Brenda owning and driving that car it would have happened after I stopped vintage racing so I don't know.
