1973 horn grilles for TTG lights

Proper '73 plastic horn grilles cut for through-the-grille lights.

I have, but do not want to use chrome grilles

One of the charming things about Porsche is that they made changes during model runs (like going to the 915/06 around April ‘73, and used chromed plastic grilles in early ‘72 model year).

I’ve seen (though it was long ago) factory black plastic TTG horn grilles. They match the black-trimmed lenses.

Certainly can cut up standard ones if I can’t find black.

The black plastic cut grills have been discussed many times over the years. They were supplied in the later TTG light kits but, not on cars from the factory with TTG options. At least that is the current consensus. Even 73 RS with TTG options received the chrome grills. The cut black plastic aren’t even cut the same as the TTG cast chromed. They were Obviously cut after being molded complete as a standard black plastic grill.

Sounds credible, but then there are these supposed “preserved” cars on the Internet.

Preserved? That link shows me a modified ‘73. I have patterns taken from my chrome TTG Horn grills. I could cut original black plastic grills. I could make a set from standard chromed grills, blast and paint them black. Over the years I’ve provided the patterns to many that wanted to make their own grills rather than try to source the rare originals.

All of the cut plastic grills I’ve seen were spare parts or part of the kits. Would love to see a verified set on a car from new but, I have not in the last 25 years of looking at cars and researching parts.

Thanks all. Chrome grilles on a black trim car are just not acceptable to me.
