Thread: SWB Turbo ??

    SWB Turbo ??

Hey guys. I am building a SWB Hot Rod.

I have an aluminum case and am building a 2.5 SS Twin Plugged engine.

I have been thinking, ok this has done before, and was thinking, it would be kind of cool to make a Turbo SWB car. Just something different.

Has anyone seen one, or done this before? If so, what have you seen work?

I was kind of thinking something like Rod Emory's 356 Twin Turbos he made.

I know this is heresy, but so are most hot rods to some people and you only live once.

If it can be done with a clean engine bay... brilliant idea.

Do what excites you and makes you happy. I’m building a 67 and I’m making it mine, originality be dammed.

Yeah i love the top mounted fan in the 934's. I looked at doing this on my SWB, but was struggling to justify the significant spend for something more or less cosmetic, but I may go this route because it does look pretty awesome.

Have always liked the flat fan alternative, pretty much expecting that price would have come down with enough demand out there.

I don’t think there’s a lot of demand. Even if you cut the price in half, that’s still a lot to turn the fan 90 degrees. Not to mention it probably reduces the engine performance when used on a street car.
