FS: „the red jacket“ 1st hand, size 50

    @all

I do have for sale the „red jacket“
    out of first hand ownership.
The jacket had been given to the buyer of a Turbo in 1977 and had been in his ownership since then

    officially it had been called:
    porsche racing jacket,
    ruby/red with sewed-on Porsche emblem
    Ref.- No 800, DM 86.-
    adverting / publication W298 2M VI / 73

    Maier Sportmoden
    Size 50

The red jackets where made of lightweight insulated nylon, with jersey side parts. They had two pockets on the chest with velcro closures, the Porsche emblem on the “heart side” . A small zipper pocket in the lower right front, slotted pencil pockets on the left arm. One pocket on the inner left side. Small raincap on the inner rear.

Obviously there had been two manufacturers:
Trigema - Trikotwarenfabrik Gebrüder Mayer - a private held company, founded already in 1919.
    and
Maier Sportmoden , founded in 1938 as Immanuel Maier GmbH.

Both companies do still exist and are global players in the sportswear and casual fashion market.

The jacket is in very good condition, no tears or holes, the raincap is still there.
This is the „old version“ with the old crest. Another version with the newer crest is existing.
The yellow ring on the zipper broke off, and a slight wear on the right cuff is visable.

Prices had been very high for the red jacket, as these are definitely rarer than the white jackets.
And they will definitely not come that often these days.

Taking this in consideration the jacket is priced at
350.-€ plus shipping out of Bavaria

    enjoy and best regards

I have added an image of relevant page from the factory catalogue that you refer to (below) to help you sell this item.

Not my original literature just an image I found on www — looks to be the page and jacket refer to and it features models with several Rennsport cars.

Also appears like this a much less interesting photo

These jackets are nice pieces to complement a car of that era — we have a couple of them that are not for sale. I used to also have a third example - the one with a later version of the crest — but gave that one to a friend who had admired it.

As owner of two or three these it’s fair to say the slim 70s cut is not so flattering with HÜFTGOLD ["hip gold"]

Haul isn’t that what some Germans call excess fat around the waist or the sort of food that leads to it?

Is this the same jacket but with ONS badge and his name to make bespoke (rather than Porsche crest) ?

I still have a couple of the Porsche crest ones in his ‘n hers sizes not for sale as just the thing to complement a 73 RS. Good enough for the late Herbert Linge then certainly good enough for me. I gave a third example with a slightly later version of the Porsche crest I also had to my friend who’d admired it.

Steve, absolutely, this is the jacket,
his „Strecken Sicherungs Staffel“ is quite curious and nowadays an „ONS“ is something complete different
