Thread: Michelin XWX

    Michelin XWX

Does anybody know why the Michelin XWX tyre doesn't have the N-mark (Porsche approval) on the sidewall? Other Michelin brands like XAS (165VR15) and SX MXX3 for later 911's with 16" wheels have the N-mark.

I find that strange because most LWB longhoods were originally equipped with XWX as standard from the factory.

In size 185/70r15, there are only 3 brands with N-approval, which are:
    Pirelli P6000 (N3)
    Pirelli CN36 (N5)
    Dunlop Sport Classic (N0)

The latter is not really a classic but derived from the Goodyear Eagle NCT tyre. (Goodyear now owns Dunlop, in case you didn't know)

The Michelin XWX's are a reproduction tire made in Serbia , nothing like the originals and not made by Michelin . I think they are over priced for a cosmetic copy and certainly not approved by Porsche .

I know what you mean but the XAS and I think also SX MXX3 are made in Serbia, in the same plant as where XWX's are being made.

The classic Pirellis (including P7 with N-mark) are made in Turkey.

In contrast, the Dunlop Classic (owned by Goodyear) are made in France...
