"C" prefix is for '71-'72, looks the same as a "D" code for '72-'73.

    1971/72 Prefix "C" FM starts with 89
    1972/73 Prefix "D" FM starts with 88
I believe that's the only difference between 1971/72 and 1972/73 Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio

Also, there are some differences in the layout of the frequency band display for some of the "C" radios... check out the lower band interval in photo above: 89, 92, 96, 100, 104, 108. Then there's this version of the "C" with only 5 numbers in the lower band: https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...ight=blaupunkt

I have a Porsche 911 Blaupunkt Frankfurt US series Kit Radio with an M 8442958. It has FM 88 94 98 102 108 as well. I was thinking this one was for a 1974 - 1977 Porsche 911 and or possibly a VW of the same year model.

TIA for your help identifying this radio correctly.

Hi Henry, your link above doesn't work but this one does: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifi...php?id=2538879. I think your "M" radio is definitely within that time period (74-77).

That model 7.636.624.012 is a 1976 radio model. Pretty basic mono radio that was not really installed in any 911's probably more for VW rabbits.

    Prefix "M" correct for 1979
