I’d love to have a back up electric antenna for my 73S. Does anyone know if this unit is correct for my car? If it is, I’ll happily buy it.

Factory I believe fitted hirschmann brand electric antenna in model 73 and other years but Bosch (as Blaupunkt or BluePoint) were supplier of many of the head units the factory fitted as radio ans radio cassette M-options so I’d expect things like this from Bosch ( which deducing from the other vehicle application listed on packaging ) seem roughly contemporary with some of early 911 era got fitted locally by importer, dealer or aftermarket. Of being picky on “correct” there are threads that give the Hirschmann antenna model numbers the factory used — they like the head units evolved a bit through the pre-impact bumper era. It depends what is meant by “correct”. Not sure if Bosch antenna were fitted at any point but seems a nice item and from what I can tell roughly contemporary.

The Renault 30 came on the market in 75. Still it can be a correct universal Bosch antenna.

Thanks Steve. It’s been a while since I looked at the antenna motor assembly on my car so I’ll take a peek later today when I’m home. I do recall the unit is an aluminum housing. Can’t recall who manufactured it, kinda’ think it was Hirschmann. Oh, if it matters, my car was a French delivered car (Sonauto). Nick

Be interested to know what was fitted not just brand but the model as stamped as on alloy — especially if it was factory fitted ordered from m option list. Think I know which model hirschmann they used around model 73 but would be interesting to see from evidence of yours and survivors if it’s what I’d expect. While there are threads on antennas I’m not sure the evolution of brand / model on pre impact cars has been built up based on survivor empirical evidence. I do have hirschmamn catalogue from period but my car antenna was fitted by the sole Porsche UK importer —as were most here in UK. I met the chap who fitted them new and did other electrical work at the British importer over thirty years ago but failed to interrogate him as I had just picked up the then 20 year old 911 so I wasn’t sweating the accessory “correctness” details that day My impression is AFN/Porsche cars GB steered customers to importer fitted antennae and to British made radios rather than ticking the m-otion for Becker and Becker with speakers and the prevailing factory hirschmann antenna . This is based on the local price list in English omitting the radios and antenna m options completely but having a vague comment about being able to fit radio with just a Stirling price range. All very vague. Also by observing the British cars. Maybe they as sole concessionaire made more profit that way or perhaps more charitably were concerned about the radio and antenna equipment being tailored to FM which was at time very new here. I don’t know about Sonauto maybe they towed the factory line regarding such accessories or did it similar to their UK equivalent concessionaire
