    WTB: Targa Seat Belt Parts

    Hello,

I am wanting to collect the right parts for mounting and enclosing a retractable seatbelt mechanism in my 1970 Targa.
A previous owner just mounted it over the panel so its perforated and crushed the panel. Quality work :-(

I think I need brackets between the wall of the body and the real, rossets, and new panels.

    Anyone have these items?

    Thanks in advance.

    Bob

The optional automatic belt reels which were offered for MY70 and MY71 were installed on the rear panel and were exposed. I believe the MY72 or MY73 was the first time covered belt reel panels were offered.

Thanks for that insight. I would be willing to go either way. The 72-73 being my preference as it more well considered approach. However I have restored everything elso on the car to as close to original as my skill can so would also do the original approach if I could find accurate info on how it was executed.

    Thanks,

    Bob

Targa reels always were mounted under the panels. Coupe’s reels in 72 and 73 were mounted on the outside of the panels and used upholstered covers to hide them.

    Hello,

The covers that hide the seat belt reels are only for the Coupe and already offered together with the Autoflug automatic seat belts for MY69 and up. In the Targa the seat belt reels were mounted directly on the body, no bracket needed and webbing came out through the slot as in your picture. Although I can't find a PET number for that Targa side panel with slot...
From MY 72 the RePa automatic reels were the standard option.

    Regards,
    Cees

Thanks Jim, I imagine you have seen enough of these to know this to be the case. This is very helpful.

Armed with this info I just ordered new panels from Autobahn Interiors.

    Cheers,

    Bob
