Thread: Shipping my 911 cross country

    Shipping my 911 cross country

I will be re-locating from Oregon to Massachusetts in the Spring time.

I am seeking sage advise regarding shipping my 911 in advance of my move. I have an offer from a friend to park my car at his place but I'm uncomfortable with this. For some reason he is disinclined to take his pristine 914/6 out of his garage for my car.

So, reasonable shipping suggestions? I'd considering using a Pod to put my car in, ship it and hold it there until I can receive it. Pod service may not like having a car with gas in it so that is probably a no-go solution.

Alternately, a car transport service with delivery to someplace that will store it temporarily.

Cost is a concern so gilded pricing will be avoided.

Worst case is I sell it on BaT, (again) and go without a Porsche for the first time since 1974.

Before you leave Paul give me a call and let's do a drive to the coast. My car is finished now. Bummer you're leaving Oregon.

I think the best way for you to do it is to buy a used enclosed trailer.
You or someone could tow it, and then you have a place to store it.

    I paid $1,000 to U-Haul to rent, I pulled my 911 to Florida, behind a q-7.
If I had time, I could have purchased a trailer for the same or similar.

My 914, went in enclosed trailer, $2,500
356 and two other cars went open for $2,000 a piece.

Shipping by open transport the Camry and driving the Element towing essentials plus two cats and the spouse. So, shipping or (say its not so) selling the 911 and living without a Porsche. So, towing the 911 is out.

Blucille: Thank you for the well wishes! We're looking forward to a change of scenery and to be close to our son in Boston.

    Gordon and all,

We definitely dislike leaving Salem since we moved here from Chico, CA for a better climate, a good move. However, our only son has become entrenched in Massachusetts and there is no family here to keep us here.

Have your son find storage space and ship the car to him.
