    Engine Details & Questions

    Guys
My question is related to the 36 washers and bolts for the tin & fiber cover assembly
    The part number 900 025 004 02 as from parts book 71….
Description is 6.4 Din 125 stuerz washers ….
BelMetric seems to only carry 6.0 metric
A regular 6m washer is not very wide (diameter) and fender washer is way to big

What is the recommended source for the wider 6.4 washers (in yellow of course)
    Thanks for assistance

The tin (fiberglass) is held on with 6 X 1.0 bolts. The Inside diameter of the washer from Belmetric is about 6.5mm and a 12 mm diameter (I have a couple hundred of them, Yellow Zinc). Pretty much the same washer VW and Porsche used forever on all their motors, and elsewhere, except I am pretty sure the OEM washer had a slight chamfer on the outer top edge.
One caution about Belmetric Cheese Head screws, sometimes the Cheese Head (in sizes 4mm, 5mm and 6mm) isn't as well defined as the stuff that came from Germany long ago. Just not as sharply defined when it transitions from the side to the flat top, a little too rounded in my opinion. Luckily the 6mm is the best of the bunch. I will gladly post some pictures if anyone is interested.
The P/N for a cheese head screw, 6X1.0, Yellow Zinc, 10mm long is: CHSL6X10YLW
You may also want to get some of them 12mm long, P/N: CHSL6X12YLW
The washer, 6.4 ID, 12mm OD, 1.6mm thick is: WF6YLW

BTW, .4mm is only .016 inches, about the thickness of two pieces of paper.

So after a more thorough review of belmetrics offerings …here it what they have
Normal 6mm washer is 12mm wide
    Fender washers are 18mm wide
    Oversized washers are 15mm wide
I will be trying the 15mm

Maybe order 25 12mm also, I think you will find that it is the proper one.
