    Enclosed Trailers

I have not owned an enclosed trailer before so I am unfamiliar with the brands. Doing research, but figured I would see if folks here had recommendations for brands to stay away from or recommend. I will be using this trailer for towing a 911. Thinking of a 16’ x 8’. Maybe as long as 20’ for extra room, but it sounds like going narrower than 8’ can make it difficult to open the door wide enough to comfortably get in and out.

For aerodynamics and road performance I recommend either Trailex Sports car model or AeroVault. The challenge is that aerodynamics means low headroom inside. If you require a taller space inside then other popular models would be more suitable.

I have a trailex HD with an extra little headroom and it is fantastic. I tow it without complaint with my Cayenne Diesel and use it to change/sit in, etc race weekends - I am 6' 4", absolutely no issues walking around inside. Lots of folks in my local PCA have the various enclosed (and unenclosed) trailexes and no one has an issue. They also don't depreciate and sell very, very quickly online. Can't endorse them enough.

Make sure you try strapping down your car before purchasing. I can’t imagine a 16x8 gives you much room for the straps. Ours is 28’ so I’m spoiled and I’m sure there is someone with a 16’ that does it all the time …but it can’t be that much fun.

I have a Trailex, the only thing I don’t like is having to put ramps in place each time I use it. I’d prefer a tailgate that doubles as a ramp.

I can't say what brands or models are best, but from what I have seen, the ones with the side doors seem like a great way to have a narrow trailer but still be able to get into and out of the car without being a contortionist.
