    Hi,

You will see the two pairs of inlet manifolds.
    One has the numbers:
    901.108.311.03
    901.108.312.03
    The Other
    901.108.311.00
    901.108.312.02

Does anyone know the reason for the different numbers?

The manifolds have been vapour blasted. Were these treated or painted to give them their original more dark grey colour?

    Thanks.
    David

The 03’s are the latest design, the .00 was the earliest and used on 64s and very hard to find. If you have an early car you should use the 00 and 02 set.

Originally they all had that Dow gold finish

Btw I have a mirror set of yours so if you don’t need the 00 I can swap it for an 02.

So am I right in saying the correct pairings should be as follows with the older at the top of the list:
    Oldest
    901.108.311.00
    901.108.312.00
    Then
    901.108.311.02
    901.108.312.02
    Then
    901.108.311.03
    901.108.312.03

    Was there a set 901.108.311.01/901.108.312.01

My past book has 901.108.039.03/901.108.40.03 ? Bit confusing !

I have never seen a .01 but it might exist.
Parts manual shows part number, manifold shows casting number. Don’t know why they differ but it applies to more parts.

    Richard,
I have the first UK Right Hand Drive 911 Coupe.
Any chance you would sell your first year "00" manifold or swop with one of my later manifolds?
    Regards
    David

Yes, the last two digits indicate revision level of casting design and I have seen all four revisions from .00 through .03. The most significant detail I can think of associated with these three manifolds is the steel bracket that supports the forward end of the layshaft that operates all three throttles. The earlier castings used a single M8 threaded stud with a spring pin as a locator for this bracket and later manifolds used two M8 studs.

You can see this difference in your photos.

Vapor blasting removes zinc plating from studs and on your manifolds the metal "pill" that is pressed into the manifold body that is used for the tip of the throttle stop screw has been affected in this manner. It appears the studs and shaft for throttle bell crank on cylinder #3 were protected from the blast media.

If the 00/02 set came off your car, what kind of air cleaner does it have. The earliest or the next one?

Btw I replied to your pm.
