    Help Identifying RSR Parts

Greetings! I am in the process of building an RSR replica and would appreciate help identifying a couple of parts. There are two boxes mounted in the rear passenger area of the Mary Stuart. One is marked VDO and it looks like they have manual speedometer cables attached so maybe they connect to rally instruments and serve as an odometer/tripometer? Would greatly appreciate any help.

I believe RSRs had a mechanical tach driven by the camshaft.

Yes mechanical tack, but I also heard these boxes are part of a rev limiter as no other RPM signal is available to protect the engine. Don’t know if it’s true or how it would work. Mike Cornow is who I heard this from, maybe he can respond.
