    Swing Arm Hardware

    I’ve been looking at many photos in the forums and the PET pages. I wanted to confirm the setup here;

    Small eccentric bolt / serrated washer and thin nut
    Larger eccentric bolt / Flat washer, Serrated washer, thin nut

    Main bolts (x2) Flat washer, Serrated washer, normal nut

    The hardware is a grade 10 and is black phosphate , black oxide is a good substitute . The zinc plating creates hydrogen embrittlement unless baked immediately after plating . The main bolts are installed with 2 flat washers and 1 schnore washer each . Also , the upper main bolt is installed with the bolt head facing out and the lower with the nut facing out , which is correct in the picture .

    I should have stated this photo was taken from another car. Good point on the top main bolt facing the other way. What’s curious is that the PET doesn’t show two flat washers, only one.

    This is a photo from my 73 which was unmolested. It shows the top main bolt facing the correct way.

    The pet does not always represent the way the cars were actually assembled , easy to recognize a car restored with information from the pet , numerous deviations from an original .

    Thin nuts on both adjusters. Quanity column may show 10 thick washers required.

    You can buy all the parts from Elephant, but they are the wrong colour (yellow). I got mine black phosphated at a local plater.
