Thread: Amber Resin Smuggler's Cover

  1. #21
Hey Mike; Your reference to your 73 RSR Jogged my memory. Your RSR is 0386 ?? I think you were in my shop about 3 years ago. You were referred, I believe, by Thomas Shaughnessy. He was my neighbor. Your number is in my phone. So I think you have heard of me. Don't assume you don't know me. I have had a lot of real period Porsche race cars and parts in my shop over the last 35Years. I just don't tell everybody about them. I have nothing to prove.

Will more of these smuggler's covers be made in the future? Interested.

I am not sure when we will release another run. I am putting all of my efforts to producing my booth for Air &Water event April 26 at Orange county Fair Ground. Keep checking my Instagram (speedster_werks) for updates and YouTube short showing my booth prior to the event (mid April)

finally the cover had arrived in bavaria ….
I had it clear coated with 4 layers, likewise my rain drip tray, to have it more sturdy and “protected”.
the transparency and the honey color hue is even more saturated by the layers of clear coat.
I had to do some modifications and adaptations to had it fit to the 65 closure system. an alloy closure lid was made, fixed with rivets. I also had to bend the hinges to fit the existing geometry, as such I had to drill out and set new rivets for the hinges.

Now nice overall…waiting for summer and hot temps under the bonnet to have it properly seated..

    thanks again…

    best regards from Bavaria
