Interesting. Thanks for sharing these. I guess you can add me to the "suspicious list", lol. 95% of my time with 911's was with G body cars until picking up my '72 last year. I can tell you amongst that crowd and over on the seabird site that "sunroof delete" is quite commonly used. I did a search on the term over there and came back with 25 pages of results.![]()

All along I thought sf delete was a racers term!!

I always ask if they just filled the hole, or cut it off at the pillars and replaced the whole thing.

Sunroof is a rare and cool option on early cars but late cars no sunroof is desirable - the grass is always greener on the other side.
My 70S is a sunroof, I went looking for one with a sunroof years ago as a project. My 79 930 I happened to have a friend flipping cars came across a 930 at a casino where the owner was a poker player that needed cash…. I came up to buy it and it didn’t have a sunroof to my surprise, so I grumbled at the price complaining it wasn’t worth as much because he didn’t tell me it was missing a sunroof…. All the while snickering to myself knowing it was much rarer without the roof hole but he didn’t know that. So now I have 2 rare cars - early one with the option and late one without the option. I ran a dealership for a while and we sold many 930s, I would get Europeans calling around 20 years ago requesting no sunroof 930s and I remember telling one they don’t exist, but I was wrong.
All the 930s I’ve looked at with window stickers had the sunroof listed as an option and an added price but most all of them came with a sunroof.
The crowd has decided to use the term sunroof delete and it stuck because it sounds more interesting. They also use the term slicktop. I’m surprised how many paint shops I’ve been to in the last 10 years removing sunroofs - some should not have had their hands on these cars as I’ve seen some scary work where they cut the car at the pillars and weld another roof on by only welding the outside metal, not the inner. Then these panels showed up to weld the hole closed without removing the roof.
