Smile On the road after almost 30 years

Today I drove her to get approved in The Netherlands. It was almost 30 years ago when she was on the road for the last time. She has been sitting in a garage for the last 28 years until I bought her 6 weeks ago. I worked hard to get her back on the road because I believe that's where she belongs.

Is she perfect? No, not by a long way, she needs a good engine tune-up, I would love to get her a stock exhaust and some modern upgrades like a blade style fusebox and electronic ignition.

But still. she's back on the road, partially due to the help on this board. So thanks. This was my dream to get a long hood 911 since I was about 8 years old.

Here are two pictures from today at the approval station.

    Awesome! Good to see!
The rolling road image is funny… kind of challenging to get real data from the front wheels

Congratulations. I now have had my 911 (another lifelong dream since childhood) for 10 months. Not perfect but so much fun to drive and be part of this community. Good luck.

    It's a brake testing device.

    That makes sense.

…We don’t have government mandated vehicle testing here.

Thanks guys, as soon as I have some license plates I will take some beauty shots. That being said, she still needs a proper polish te get even better. This is how I found het though. She was sitting I a dark garage, so the paint didn't suffer terribly. Although the front left fender needs a respray as the PO dropped stof on in and tried to fix it himself.

This is how I found her.

So she was imported from Florida in 1997 and has been in that shed ever since. Don't know why he didn't register the car. Yes it needed some work, mostly electrical. But the bones were good and it wasn't a major project. He told me he couldn't just get himself to it. And now he got too old and had to let her go.

He was very pleased it's on the road again. I texted him, and I will take him out for a ride when the final small things have been fixed.
