    Recommended engine builders

    Hi Everyone,

I have an engine from a 69T that I want to build into a 2.5L Short stroke or similar.

Could you please recommend any reputable engine builders that could do this for me?

I don't mind shipping it anywhere in the states so location not so important...

    Thanks,

    Zain

Hi Zain, Automobile Associates in Canton, CT can definitely do that for you. Scott McPherson, their engine builder is one of the best.

you might not mind shipping it anywhere, but a year later, don't you want that engine builder to be available should you have any questions or concerns. I would think you'd want to start with some local firms, if none of those check your boxes, yes Auto Associates is great, and there are some other great firms elsewhere in the country.

Not to mention the post-build tuning and adjustment which always are needed.

Guys, thank you for your replies.

Im based outside of the US so will be shipping the engine in, no other way. There isn't a single shop close by that has experience with this.

I completely understand the benefits and general wisdom of having a local shop do it but unfortunately not an option for me...

Thank you for the recommendations and please keep them coming.

    Best,

    Zain

.... the other option being to import all the parts required and build locally myself and/or with the help of a local engine shop which would 100% never had any experience with any porsche engines...
Im pretty sure I could manage that way too but really want to avoid it because it would require a whole lot of time that I don't have

You might be able to avoid custom fees on the return. Oregon and Delaware don't have sales tax for needed parts. You might try Rothsport in Oregon as they have dyno.

Scott McKeown is building my 67S to a 2.5 spec. PM me and I'll give you his contact info. He's in PA just around the corner from Delaware Porsche. I understand Peter Dawes in PA is also first rate.
