    The horse got back up.....

Well, the ones that Dave Buhain has at MS Road race are real nice. They are Cibie's and appear to be virtually the same size. He has a driving version on one of his personal cars, and it works great.

I have original ones for sale over on the classifieds side....US version fog, and the Euro version of the 914/6 (and 914) driving, which is also a Hella 118, just in black. The black ones have the larger diameter Euro lenses.

    hehehe....

I ended up fabricating my own brackets out of steel, bent to appropriate angle, riveted and brazed together....will post a pic ASAP.

    Through the grills

I wait with bated hogbreath as to bracket specs. Picked up a set of Cibie driving lights at German Autofest/Ventura (sensory overload). Couldn't believe one of the yokels wanted $145 for the brackets. (Readily paid $450 for an RS space cam--but that's a horse of a different color.) Can't see the brackets when installed, and mounting points already installed courtesy Porsche (battery boxes).

Isn't there an issue of "Esses" that had info on fabricating one's own brackets? Looked through back issues last night to no avail. Could someone I.D. the issue or post the dimensions?

Oh, and one more thing, methinks the wiring already in place presumes the aux. lights will be fogs, not driving lights and will, therefore, be wired for a dash switch and will only activate with the low beams. Suggestions on wiring in to the high beam circuit and installing a relay for the increased load? Thanks in advance.

    Re: Through the grills

I havent hooked the lights up yet(the car is in the shop), but my brackets cost me about $10. Steel bar and some brazing solder was all I had to buy-had the paint and rivets.
I copied the pattern of the screw attachments for the grills, and used longer stainless screws to samminch the bracket in there. Its not perfect, but I needed to spend that $$$ on my wrench installing my tensioner upgrade/valve adj. tranny svc.

    Through the Grill Replicas

Cibie "Tangos" I believe. They can be had for about $85 a piece (do a Google search or even Yahoo Shopping sorted by price). Mounting brackets are easy to make and bolt right up to the battery boxes... ba-da-bing!

This post won't die! I just got a complete set from my dealer, new kit complete with wiring, switch, lights etc. The mounts are the cheapy black plastic.
I have another set of the lights that came on my 73S, they are a bit pitted but no cracks in the lenses, I'll get them out and have a look at them. Maybe somebody wants them.
My original mounts are chrome. FWIW.

Merry Christmas to all of you!
