I hate being part-of-a problem instead of part-of-a solution ... but Sherwood what-da !@#$ did you just say ... I read your comment above 4 times and still couldn't put a picture on this site to save my life ! ...

There has to be an easier way, especially for some of us computer challenged geezers … ya-think?

    .

Everytime I click 'reply' in left hand column of any individual, my subject box appears blank. Does all of you have the same problem, meaning have to re-type?

See above, I've pressed only . because unfairly no else seems to have to re-type.

    Inserting an Image

    Chuck,
Let me try to explain this another way. If you want to place an image on your "reply" page. You will first have to upload the image from your computer to a website you can access on the internet; perhaps one of the free personal websites offered by several companies. Rennlist and Pelican Parts come to mind as Porsche-related sites. Tripod, Geocities, Freespeech, Hypermart are other sites. Of course, there are also sites that charge you a per month/per year fee.

    From this EzBoard forum:
    1. Select either New Topic or Add Reply. You will be faced with a blank form. On the left column there is a "how to" list.
    2. Select "Use EzCodes". A window will appear with a list of topics
    3. Select no. 2, "To Make an Image Within a Post". Another window will appear that gives you an example of the format to use.

I'll leave you to review the sample and insert your pertinent website location and file name. If I duplicate the sample "code" on a reply page, the resultant code produces an ...... image.

Chuck, alternatively, you can be my ally at the next board meeting to use another bulletin board software that features more image support.

    Almost there..

    Sherwood,
I am almost there, I have just created a web site of a monkey (only a test at this stage):

    uk.geocities.com/mrimorton.monkey.jpg

but I do not understand the ezcodes tutorial, so please tell me what do I have to type exactly (no examples please) to open the image.

    Fingers crossed,
    Ian

I've finally done it, but the picture is massive! How do I make it smaller?

    Re: Done it!!!!!!

    Ian-

Resize the image with an editor before uploading it to the web.
If you don't already have one, simple image editors are available for free on the WWW. I like this one: www.irfanview.com/

Image size is usually expressed in pixel count, which corresponds to the dots on your computer monitor. 640 x 480 pixels will fill the entire screen of a small monitor running at a low resolution, so make your pic smaller than that.

Remember to maintain the same aspect ratio (width/height) of the original pic or you will distort it.

Good luck, and remember- "to err is human, but it takes a computer to really f*#k things up!"

Subject box (which is this very box)

Thanks TT, I really appreciate it. As you can see above, I've now learned how to resize pictures.

I only have one more question, then I'd be done:-

It appears that when everyone replies to any individual on this board, their subject box is filled automatically - but mine doesn't. How?

    Regards, Ian
