    Re: Backfireing

The backfiring is definately exhaust so much so I think I have ruined some baffles in the muffler.

The microswitch is often mentioned as a problem how can I test if it is working or not?

    test

    Hello

OK there are some test procedes. One done on every servic is you open the lid and rev the engine on the throttle abouve 3500/min then you press the microswitch with the finger and the engine shoulddrop to idle and then rev up to 1000 and drop again cycle untill you release the switch.

Backfires in the exhaust are to rich MFI pumps and a leak in the exhaust who will add some oxygene.

It also can come from bad valve or cam timing and fronm wrong setet MFI pump timing.

Some fine crackle in theexhaust is normal

    Re: test

    Roland,

Tested the Microswitch and it works every time however when I disconnect the wire from the microswith and render the system useless the car no longer backfires at all and all I don't have is the tacho flying back to zero and back up again.

Might the problem be in the transducer or the the solenoid on the pump. Sounds like too much oxygen getting in somewhere.

I am getting out of my depth I think.

    Dan,

Could you email me a copy of the MFI setup instructions as well. I'm pulling my hair out trying to get my 73S right.

    Thanks,
    Devon
