    Paint Code help

Can anyone tell me what the following paint code colour is:

    936 9-3

This appears on the "Kunstharzlack" plaque on the door jam of a 72 car.

Brett Johnson's book lists no such code for paint. Sorry, but the highest numerical code for 1972 is 925...silver metallic. Custom paint was always an option, perhaps you have such a car?

    color

936 code replaced 925 sometime in mid 72. The factory manuals will show the 936 code only in 73 and newer cars however it did appear earlier. The -9 and -3 number refer to manufacturer, in this case Glasurit and some kind of control number for example plant manufacture. The two colors do very in color so be careful. Oh yes 936 is a wet on wet process silver as is 925 from 1970 on.

By the way Paul, paint to sample cars always have the code 999.

    Re: color

    Thanks Schmidt.
The non listing in the restorers guide did throw me. At least I know know that the car is essentially the same colour as it was originally supplied.
