    Chrome bezel gauge rebuilds

    Can anyone suggest a shop that does top quality gauge rebuilds on early units with the chrome bezels?

    Thanks;

    Chrome Bezel Gauge Rebuilds

    I had mine done at North Hollywood Speedometer www.nhspeedometer.com/ The quality was quite high but they took a while (plus a few returns for bugs). I would probably use them again.

    Palo Alto Speedometer also has a good reputation www.paspeedo.com/

    I think Pelican Parts also works on instruments.

    Thanks Jim

    And there was no problem with having the Chrome bezels? What kinds of bugs did you encounter? I'd like to know what to watch for.

    Instrument Repair Bugs

    North Hollywood Speedometer had no difficulty with the chrome bezels. I sent them kind of pitted ones, they sent back perfect ones. I don't know if they replated or replaced the bezels.

    They also had the cases replated and reproduced the original date stamps.

    There were some problems: It's a slow process--if your car is on the road now, wait for winter. The tach was stuck when I got it back--it had to be returned but they fixed it very quickly. They also got the little "L" brackets that hold the gauges in the dash mixed up and two I got back didn't fit. That was also fixed quickly.

    The parking brake warning lamp they sent me was the wrong color. I stopped by on the way to the Monterey Historics and they fixed that too.

    My speedometer sometimes sticks at zero until I hit at least 30mph. I suppose I could send that back this winter, buet there are a lot of wires to disconnect and it's not a big deal (unless I get into rallying)

    As I said, I would probably send gauges to them again.
