Thanks Tom. Another cardboard part some guys I know could use? Same material, I think. The curved piece, with 4 metal brackets & snaps that goes to cover the fresh air blower housing, the backside of the dash? Do you know if they are still available? Luckily, mine still okay...but I've seen them in tatters.

    Cardboard thang

C Boyer, I'd sure like to see photos of your 73S luggage compt. My car is going back together in two months, after restoration. I would like to see where the tool kit goes and that black fuel vent box/hoses. I have all of the parts, but there are no comparison cars here in Arkansas.

    Please email me at Scotty7458@aol.com

    Thanks,

    Scott Harter

That's why I bought the 2.4S Coupe as I've pulled a 2.4S Targa apart to restore and at least now I have a reference!

You are correct its the same style of compressed board and my micrometer indicates around the same thickness. We have made some in the past with similar material but the hardest part is getting the same style of rivets to re attach the steel posts.

I am sure that somewhere in the USA you could find the compressed board.

P.S. I am of the belief that you 72 should have had the clip assuming that it has the "black box" in the USA spec car. The only reason for the hole in the cardboard is for the clip so if the cover has the hole it also makes sense the clip should be present. I have seen 72 Aussie delivery cars with the clip.

The clip must have been lost before I bought the car, if it was there. Vent hoses to the charcoal cannister run in front of this board when it's in place over my fuse boxes...don't see how these hoses could be routed through the board's hole. Oh well, no real biggie...my days of PCA parade concours efforts are long over. I just prefer driving a clean machine these days. Want to keep it fairly original, tho...
