    Camshaft sources?

Okay, I've seen reground cams advertised at MM for $300 and I've seen welded/ground cams advertised at WebCam for $1400. What other sources are there for cams that won't wear out after a few hundred miles or won't work because they're reground too much? I think $1400 is a bit much and was dreaming about Chevy and Ford camshaft prices.

I ventured over to the EBS site for a look, but it's down for awhile. Btw, I'm thinking S type cams.

    Thanks,
    Sherwood

there have been some posts about vavle noise/alignment problems with regrinds with a smaller base circle. compare apples to apples. the $300 apples might be poisonus.

Yes, I'm aware that some apples are not as equal as others. I've heard some regrinds go so far that the adjustment screw on the rocker isn't long enough to set the clearance. In lieu of good factory cams, the hard-welded and reground versions are a good option (as long as they're hard enough, ground accurately, have an effective lobe design and .......)

    Thanks for the reminder,
    Sherwood

the only other people i could think of would be competion cams or crane. does jerry woods make or sell them? what about the 'g' grinds?

my brother had a bad experience with an aftermarket cam from comp cams in a 454 donzi. they sent the wrong springs which ate the first cam. ate it the second time with the correct springs. the third rebuild was with the stock springs durring the break in then to the correct springs. ouch. three rebuilds and never hit the water.

Besides Webcam, They best sources for cams would be Elgin and Garretsen Enterprises
