    Front hood latch backup cable?

Years ago, a 356 owning friend showed me a backup he had installed in case the trunk release cable failed. He'd rigged some electrical wire to the latch release, routed it through a hole in his left front fenderwell. If the factory cable failed, he could reach behind the wheel, and pull on the backup. I never could see how this could be easily done to an early 911. I'm wondering if a small hole could be drilled in the piece behind the bumper, a length of wire fed through a small grommet to accomplish this? Has anybody created a backup system? Input welcome...

    Hood Latch

Don't bother, Porsche designed the catch mechanisms so that the hood/deck lid will open up if the cable breaks.
