With the RSA door panels I bet your door handles don't break often.
Those Fiat plastic pulls on an RS panel are pretty weak.

Some tired of replacing those plastic RS pulls end up with a nylon or leather strap instead.

I liked your pre edited post.........

The missing line was more Robert Conrad like, "knock this battery off my shoulder, I dare you" .
It got your point across in basic easy to understand
    Long Shoreman speak.

I didnt want any of that so I edited my RSA panel comments.

    LOL !!!!

If you saw my pre-edited orig post, you were the one I was worried about being up as Late as I was then, and actually reading the thing.....you burn the midnite oil MG

I guess the fact I spend so many hours in the Port kinda shows...huh?

That part of me is a work in progress, I'll try and improve on that.

Bottom line is that since I have a "put-together" 911, and exact owiginality is kind of a mute point, my RSA door panels are lighter & much more "period-correct" as far as initial appaerance than the '84 Carrera door panels that the PO had installed.

Of course this is just my opinion about my car.....

    I'm gonna do it!

Since I’ll have the orig. doors tucked away safe and sound, along with the orig. steering wheel (replaced by an awesome Momo Prototipo - highly recommended!) I’m not THAT worried about originality. As long as I have at least 2 hours notice before the originality cops come to Detroit, I’ll be fine.

The RS panels are already on the way, so I’m gonna do the holes – thanks for the input on the proper shape! I have holes already from AC removal, PO added power locks/alarm and duct re-routing through added dash vents, so what’s a couple more… Right? Besides, I like the RS door look and haven’t had much success losing weight myself this year.

The RSA door is definitely a better design but I do like the period feel of the RS.

I guess the best way is to drill a hole and grind with a dremel to taped square lines. Anyone have a photo or dimensions of am RS opening? Is it as large as the square recess? Not that I’ll be trying to fool anyone, but if I’m gonna do it – may as well do it right.

Good input on the flimsy pull handle – I think my 356 metal handle may look pretty darn good there as an homage to the older brother (or is it cousin?). Of course it would have to be anodized black to blend in.

I’ll keep that in mind for when the RS one breaks.

    door

Hi Jared. Better late than never. I've included a pic of an original RS door. Hope it comes through......
My (0792) is targa, is still in Canada. Theres alot of confusion on build date. Cardex claims 7th of Jan73. All date stamped items in the car claim April. Either there's a mistake in the cardex or the car was built and then finished at a later date. That's why I'm curious about the production #'s. I'll dig mine up. Anyways, Silver metalic, Tan leather interior with sportseats, tinted windows, power antenna, AM/FM blaupunkt plus factory installed rear speakers with fader/front to rear, white fogs above bumper, rear wiper with alloy lid (very odd but original), muffler skirt, fender chrome, bilsteins and a limited slip to spin those skinny 185 XWX's. Oh ya, and an oil cooler. A low milage car with 39500 miles. I'm located on the North side of Toronto. Lets hook up when this minus 18 breaks.

    Robert.......

    Robert,
Thanks for the pics, it looks like a thinner opening than what I was imagining. More like a slot.

Your targa has an unusual mix of options! But they sure come together to make a great car!
My #0793 door sticker says 1/73 manufacture - does yours say 4/73? That is a unique interior color, is it possibly a special order car that had to wait a few months for materials in the factory?

    stuffffffff

Any car with that many options was special ordered. Most car's sold were dealer stock. It's a January car that probably sat on a dolley a few months outside, waiting for it's option list to come in. ( one theory I have is Porsche,,, at the time was experiencing extreme trouble with metalics,,,,yellowing, cracking,,,, perhaps mine was a lemon???) Everything else is stamped 04/73. Gauges, rims, mfi manifolds, etc. I've seen simular photos at the factory, cars on dolleys outside, sitting around without tires and suspension and probably without motors too...... I love unique interiors. The full tan leather is obiously a less common thing to see, then it steped down to brown, then blue and last, probably, pimp'in RED. ((right SCHMIDTY)) I've never seen full green but a 73 with brown with green/brown plaid centres. It must exsist thou. ??? My 1970 T coupe (also highly optioned) has the same interior but without sports................ Black certainly was the norm and easy to sell...My friends 73S, sold here in Toronto, came optioned with a Brown and houndstooth centre's. The dealer couldn't sell the car and thus changed the interior to Black vinyl at the time.

    Robert......

PS. anyone out there with red interior pcs for sale??????

    Albert Blue

Albert Blue is the original color. It's what I call my R-Gruppe car. (Ohhh, you bad boy Robert... ) Hey man, it's only a 'T'.
MFI (soon with high butterfly) twinplug, 2.8L, custom ports and re'cc'd head work I did on the CNC to match the RSR pistons.... RSR flywheel, slip, etc, etc , etc.......
The only bummer is I havn't had the thing registered on the road since 86'.

    Robert...

At least in this case the obscure reference was not lost a younger generation.
Yes I had an 8 track in my first bug.
