    Hard start when warm?

    My '73S had become a no start when trying to restart at operating temp. It would crank but not light up similar to a 'no fuel' or 'no spark'. After sitting for a while (long enough to cool down), it would fire up and run with no problem, no miss, good idle and power. And have the same 'no start' problem after shutting it off. I don't remember trying to crank/fire it immediately after shutting it off, it might have sat for ten or twenty minutes. I pulled the single wire for the 'cold start' enrichment, end of 'no start' problem. The 'cold start enrichment' was making it too rich @ operating temp. Hope this helps.

    is the cold start solenoid temperature controlled or does it just dump the fuel durring starter engagement?

    And I thought I was alone! The cold start solinoid only works below like 40 degrees or so. The enrichment solinoid works kinda like an automatic choke. It works no matter what temp you start at. It uses the warm air flowing through it from the exchangers to warm the discs inside and change the richness accordingly. Niether should be engaged after you reach operating temp. It seems my problem is it dosen't hold fuel pressure to the MFI pump from the fuel pump, or the injectors are leaking down the system between them and the MFI pump. Thanks to all who have responded.
