As some of you may already know, I picked up a nice 4 pt bolt in roll bar this past weekend at Dunkel's.

Well, it went in no problem and even though this is my first rollbar install I was still able to asertain rather quikly that the front two mounting points are the outboard factory front lapbelt bolt holes and the rear two mounting points are the outboard rear flip-up seat-back bolt holes. It bolted up fine to these locations so here's my question:

When bolted up in place, there is an air gap underneth all four baseplates of 2"-front & 1" rear, meaning that the rollbar is suspended by the "sheer" forces of each bolt at all 4 mounting points. Is this right? or do I have to get individually custom shaped and contoured base plates fabricated under each point?

any insights are appreciated.

thanks!
