My '72 Targa has the black rectangular driver-side mirror, no passenger side mirror.

Is it a large or small mirror. Unless you can confirm with your cardex, I highly doult that it's original to the car. Small black rectangular mirrors were not available until 73' as super special order.

Thank you everyone for the help. About the nerf bar, I have the one like in the Carrera RS picture, and as it is factory will most likely go with it. New question. Anywhere in LA that can straighten and replate it?

Vespa's are so cool. I used to own a highly original, unrestored 1952 German built Hoffmann Vespa. Those things fetch as much money now as a 2.2 S needing restoration. Go figure that one out!!!

PS. straightening that pipe out wouldn't be cheap.

Vespa's are cool. You had a great piece of history in the Hoffman. There are some really expensive scoots ou there. The ones I really want are way out of my price range, just like the Porsches I want. The Vespa and the Porsche have similar stories in my life. I brought the Vespa back to life after it sat in my garage for more than ten years close to being sold many times. The 911 was sitting in a friend's auto shop for a few years. It was destined for (gasp) a turbo look update. He sold his shop and knowing I had always admired the car, offered it to me. I bought itwith out knowing what I was getting in to. It is a 72E but it turns out it has a 71S 2.2 engine with MFI in it. It should be every bit as fun as the scoot which came out great after an engine rebuild and a little body work and touch up paint.
