How long to prime injection pump?

My 911E that has laid dormant for a while is just about ready for its starting attempts.....My question is, how long does it take a completely dry MFI system to start getting fuel to the injectors?

If you turn the key on, you really quickly get fuel to the injection pump, but then it appears that nothing gets to the injectors after several revolutions on the starter...does that take a little bit to fill up? Injection pump is newly rebuilt.

I found my 73 (with a 72T engine) in very much the same condition. It took awhile for the lines to prime the first time. I think it took about 3-7 minutes of cranking (total cranking time) before it fired up. There is a post about this on pelican when I fired it up on how to start it more quickly. I'll look for it.

    Here's the post about it.

Next time prime the injection pump first. Then she'll fire right off. I use a drill and a big rubber band.

    Cool!

    thanks!

After owning the car for over a year and never driving it, it's going to be hard to sit through that 15 minutes (!) of cranking.

Belive me I know. I owned my car for over 6 months before I started her and it was another month before I was able to drive her.. my first drive in a porsche.

    Can't wait for an update

Like 3 Harleys stopped at a light.

Sheesh...took about 10 minutes of turning it over to get gas where it needed to be.

It's rough, it's loud (no muffler) but it actually idles.

Another few hours and it may drive around the block!

    thanks for your help.
