Thread: Early Sixes - where is the part #?

  1. #11
    Andy, Nick,

Thanks. Perfect pics Andy! I'd seen the early six one on Shawns earlier post, but just needed the location. Thanks, now i'm armed.

Shawn - Let me guess on the Mtn Bike parts - Titanium Skewers, cross drilled disk breaks, new rear suspension shock, etc... Hmmm... think i've heard of this sickness somewhere else before. OK, whos gonna start the Porsheaholics Anonymous Support Group? Oops, almost forgot. This is the PASG! Pics of the back side? Geez Shawn, you trying to get the government to start monitoring this site?

Andy is quite right, the logo I have shown above is not the FOX. After close examination of several rims I can now see the little bugger, it can be difficult to spot!

    Chris

How much are you paying for these rims? I am interested as I have just found a set of 4 for sale.

Nick, the price varies according to condition - currently £100 upwards seems to be the going rate here (although there are still bargains to be had - I just picked up a very nice refurbished set relatively cheaply).

    Nick,

Good question. The guy wants $750 for a set of 4 w/me swaping my late sixes included. Seemed high, but they are in great shape. The paint is perfect, w/only a few scratches in the aluminum, no curb rash. What do you think?

Is that $187.50 plus a late six for each rim? That does sound a lot. I would have thought that is a lot

4 have just sold on Ebay for €555

Thanks for asking Chris. I got an "in person" look at a repro strip, an agree the quality is very sub par.

Haven't found an OEM one for sale, so I'm not sure what the going rate is. Pelican offers a repro front, rear and rocker trim kit for $200.

Hell, I would rather splice in some rubber sections where the bumpers were than use that aftermarket piece - or maybe just put the eyesore buggy bumpers back on

    early fuchs pricing...

Here is an ebay auction for early deep 6's that I participated in...here.

As you can see the reserve was not met. These wheels are a restored set. Negotiations continued off ebay.

    I just purchased 5

Several weeks ago there was another Ebay Auction for 5 deep six Fuchs, with caps, restored to original by Wheel Enhancement. They are PERFECT. The seller did not get his reserve. I called after the auction ended, he just wanted to unload them. They took up too much space in the garage. 5 rims with caps, $1000.00. I think I got a good deal.

After the auction, give the seller a call. He will be ready to deal.

Seems like we have two threads going in one now.

Nick and Shawn - The wheels in the UK auction look pretty beat up and would need polished and re-anodized to get em back to the factory look. Looks like they've been painted black. 550EU + the cost to recondition them would easily put you over 1000$ US. The ones that Shawn linked on EBay in the US look much closer to the ones I'm going to buy (probably).

Jared - I'll keep looking for the one piece trim. I was actually thinking about putting '72 bumperette on my car until I saw how nice it looks without them. That said, what if mine gets tapped or worse. I'll never be able to replace it. I would imagine its pretty straight forward to put '72 bumerettes on a '73 as its the same spoiler right? The only thing for you though is that the 3 piece seams are on the outside corner, not in the front where the bumperettes go. So they wouldnt' really hide the seams. Well, like I said, I'll keep looking.
