Depends on outside air temperature, but 190-230F is a safe operating range.

1 liter in 600 miles is not too much, but it is on the high side if you aren't leaking any.

Are you trying to start a religious war? There are those that prefer both. I prefer synthetic, others will tell you it causes leaks and you should stick with a good dino oil like Kendall. YMMV.

That's funny...Tom, we're pretty much in agreement. I answered the post on the general topics page. Juan? I'll bet your car is a sensation in Barcelona! Welcome aboard.

I ran Mobil 1 in my 65,000 mile Audi Ur Coupe Quattro and after 1500 miles it started developing leaks. I read this was due to longer molecular chains. I persisted with M1 for another 3000 miles and it kept leaking. Switched back to Kendal and the leaks disappeared.

The 911 only gets Kendal dino-juice, not synthetic since it has 85,000 miles and already has a couple of miner leaks. From experience, if I switched to M1 I would have leaks like the Exxon Valdez.

Not all '73 911-S's came with oil coolers. It was optional. Kendall, Valvoline are good choices and temperatures mentioned are fine but cooler is better. Push past 230 and then you need to pay attention.
