    Chrome Grills?

Does anyone think I should be getting chrome grills for my '68? Thanks.

    Tyson,

It's one of those visual cues that a lot of people pick up on …

    Black grills 73' … anything before - Chrome…

It's like your eye expects the shiny bobbles, then gets disappointed when they're not there.

Then it's "something doesn't look right"

    Ya-know-what-I-mean?

    Just my $ .02

Yes, I know what you mean. I'm just trying to justify it to a certain someone else, if you know what I mean.

I've been meaning to address this for some time now. It's been on that "list of things that I want to do" but other things get ahead of it (rebuilt engine, no money now). Thanks for your opinion.

Yes! Absolutely chrome grilles. They complete the bright trim line around tour turn/parking lamp lens.

    Just doesn't look right otherwise.

Okay then, where is the best place to get them? I know Tweeks has them for about $100.

    Chrome horn grilles a must

    Tyson,
I agree they are a must and are one of the first things an informed early 911er notices.
Tweeks grilles are repro's made out of plastic and dipped in chrome paint. They are garbage. It's hard to find a good set that are not already pitted and need rechroming. They are made out of cheap pot metal and tende to rust easier than normal. Best place to look is on EBay or at one of the early 911 boneyards like EASY or PAP. You can find a rough set for $50-75. Plan to pay extra for the rechrome....

    68S

    Tyson,
I just realized you have a 68S. Don't be so cheap on the little stuff. You've got an S. It is simply an investment. By the way, I know that the 67 9111 chrome grilles wer the long 2 hole kind. Are they the same for 68. If so, the 65 and 66's won't work because they wer 4 holed, and the post 68's are a different size alltogether...

    yep, you need chrome

Nice car. Why not simply take your existing black grills to the chrome shop?

    Shawn, thanks.

I just talked to Parts Heaven. They have metal, but pitted grilles in stock. Of course they need to be replated. I suppose if I'm going to send things out for replating, I would rather have metal.
