    Gas Smell

    Greetings....

My '73 911S has 70K original miles on it and drives like a new car. There is one flaw, however. It has a slight gas smell at times when driving. When I stop I check under the front hood, under the gas cap, under the engine lid -- and can't detect any gas smell at all. It only seems to happen when I'm underway and it vanishes when I stop.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

And if it's only a loose hose end? Consider dunking the end of the hose in a cup of nearly boiling water before replacing it. Makes it soft, easy to shove over the fittings. EDIT: Ah, KRAP! I just visited your "collection" website. If I'd known you were in it for the money? I may not have been so forthcoming.

    Gas Smell

    Hi....

I'm not "in it for the money" (not there is anything wrong with that, but that's a thread for another discussion list). I retired in 2000 and this is simply a self-supporting hobby -- the best kind of hobby!

    Cheers,
